River Kayaking

The opportunities for river kayaking in southwest Nova Scotia are many and varied. All rivers suitable for canoeing are also suitable for river kayaking. However, for whitewater boating, the kayaker will want to select rivers that are known for faster flowing water and good rapids to avoid a lot of lake paddling between sections.  Most of the runs are class two and three.  The usual precaution of scouting of any rapid situation applies.
