In June 2011 a plaque and cairn was unveiled to commemorate Crawley’s Island as the original landing place of the Massachusetts “Planters” in 1761
 Various people own camps on Crawleys Island. Paddlers are welcome to tent on the island. The island makes a great place to tent and explore the Chebogue River and Melbourne wetlands.
