Channel Island and Camp Island are both located in Lobster Bay near Camp Cove Wharf. In conversation with one of the many owners he agreed to give permission for paddlers to camp overnight at either of these islands.

Lobster Bay is one of the richer lobster fishing grounds, well named for its quanity of lobsters living in this bay because of the water temperature and rich feeding grounds for them. Here you will see many  brightly colored buoys dotting the water used  to identify each fishermens lobster pots. The season starts the last Monday in November and goes through to the end of May during this time these harbours are very busy with lobster boats coming and going, then during  the summer months the fishermen begin to gather rockweed in the bay. Lobster Bay with its  many islands are mostly privately owned  but some owners have graciously given paddlers  permission for overnight camping. Lobster Bay provides the paddler with a fair amount of shelter from the wind unless you are paddling out near the more exposed islands.

Remember: tides, fog, water currents, fishing boats!
