Barrio Lake Trip. Thanksgiving 2010

Report by Andy and Ginny Smith

Cool, clear and windy conditions defined our 2010 Thanksgiving trip, this year to Barrio Lake. No moose, bears, coyotes, loons or other paddlers but geese, ducks, kingfisher and good company.  Sufficient water in meander from Michael Trask’s Beech Lodge on North Carrying Road Lake to Barrio Lake, but roads in above Fred Kingsbury’s are becoming nearly impassable in places. It won’t be many years before access is limited to Birchdale or the put-in on South Carrying Road Lake 1k further on, as it was in the “old days”—before JD Irving.
